Fujifilm launches most advanced printing plate ever – Brillia HD PRO-T3

New Fine Particle Dispersion technology dramatically improves on-press performance

Fujifilm's PRO-T3 is if it does what it says on the box is truly 'the most advanced printing plate ever' and Fujifilm PRO-T3 processless printing platecertainly one that's going to give litho printers a renewed vigour and revitalise them.

So all-in-all a good development and a step in the right direction, it would appear so, according to Steve Samuels, director of Lynhurst Press, the long established Basildon based printer, well known in the magazine industry for producing complex inserts.  In his view the PRO-T3 heralds a new beginning in print production.

Lynhurst have been one of a number of printer’s trialling and testing it, having used Fujifilm plates since 2001.  So far there have been few or no problems.  Yes, there were the initial ones as there always are when a new product is trialled, but these were soon sorted our by Fujifilm's technical, development and support staff.

Steve explained what we found was that they are much more versatile and not sensitive to different founts so you don’t have to use the ones suggested by Fujifilm.  Also, with a harder emulsion they’re much more hard wearing, durable and less prone to scratching which was sometimes a problem with the earlier plates.  Overall I'd say the PRO-T3 is a more forgiving plate, if the press is not perfectly set up you still get good results"

"All in all," said Steve "I reckon its third time, I shouldn’t use the word lucky, because its not.  It’s down to the new technology they (Fujifilm) have developed and the demand from printers for better products.

I really honestly believe if other printers find them as good to work with and achieve the results we have they're going to be over the moon" continued Steve.

The latest version of this groundbreaking processless plate represents Fujifilm’s most advanced printing plate to date, featuring high performance technologies designed to optimise performance.

  • PRO-T3 represents the fastest way of getting a plate on-press.
  • Brillia HD PRO-T3 is a processless plate that eliminates the processor, chemistry, gum and water.
  • PRO-T3 provides the perfect opportunity to streamline production.
  • Improved efficiencies in order to maximise the use of offset presses, maximum quality while minimising lead times.
  • Higher ink receptivity with much faster development on press, and a much wider tolerance of different press conditions.
  • Over-coat layer that controls the diffusion of oxygen, ensuring optimum plate stability and a long shelf life, along with a photosensitive layer that contributes to the plate’s high sensitivity and productivity.
  • Features a new layer incorporating the company’s unique new Fine Particle Dispersion (FPD) technology that dramatically improves on-press performance.
