Essex based printing company install Kodak’s new Trendsetter – where size really was important...
Supplied through one of Kodak’s Premier dealers, Mayday Graphic Products Limited, the complete solution has been in use for the last 3 months and has revolutionised their Prepress plate-making department and increased their print quality. David Brown, managing Director at M & B explains: “We were using an Image setter and experienced film and plate development problems that were only showing up when the job was on press – lines, spots etc – this was causing us production problems and in turn costing us both time & money.” “Having considered a couple of options we decided on the Mayday/Kodak offering due to the professional advice & service offered by both companies, from the initial Prinergy Evo workflow demonstration through to the on-site plate trials using the chemistry free Thermal Direct plates.” “Size was major concern we had when looking for the system that meet our needs, would it fit, and more importantly could we physically get it in the building. However we needn’t have worried, reassured by both Mayday and Kodak that the Trendsetter had been designed with small and medium sized printers in mind, with a key feature being it’s small footprint. Seeing was believing and true to their words the Trendsetter negotiated with ease the various obstacles that could have prevented it’s installation.” “Since the installation we haven’t looked back. Both Mayday Graphics & Kodak have given us exceptional customer service and we are delighted with the solution, which has enabled us to reduce overheads in Prepress, achieving savings of 50% as well as being able to increase our print quality from 175Lpi to 200Lpi in the Pressroom.” With the introduction of Kodak Thermal Direct chemistry free plates we no longer use any chemistry in the production of plates, complying fully with our Environmental Policy to reduce the amount of chemicals used without compromising the quality of our products produced by M & B. Not only do we now no longer buy any chemicals for use in the Prepress department we no longer have the costly problem of disposal, a ‘win-win’ situation.” John Smith Pre press manager also explained that his life has been made so much easier with the introduction of the Preps imposition software incorporated in Prinerge workflow. John commented that he has saved hours in pre press and is thoroughly delighted with the whole solution.
