| Hybrid Printing - is it the future? |
Growing DemandDuring the last 2 years it won't have gone un-noticed by anyone connected with the graphic display industry the huge increase in demand for digital printing equipment from traditional litho printing companies to business start-ups who recognised gaps in the market and the rapid increase of online print buying, everything from business cards to birthday cards. Hybrid Printing and the NexPress'Hybrid' Printing Plants - a combination of traditional offset litho and digital printing. Are they the future for UK printers? It appears that's the way US print companies are going and what happens there eventually finds its way to UK shores. In many cases it already has with even the smallest of printers adding digital print facilities to their plant list. This was recently endorsed by the purchase of Moon Pig by PhotoBox who see it fitting nicely into their business model, along presumably, with increased financial benefits. As you'll discover the Kodak NexPress is probably only one of a number of digital printers that are likely to go head to head with conventional litho printing and claim the laurel wreath. Consistent, reliable and easy to operate it is without doubt the main contender when compared to similar offerings. There is a third, finishing and more importantly, inline finishing specifically designed to work with the new generation of digital presses. Another and important factor from the ‘business to consumer’ point of view is the quality of print output from the Kodak NexPress and its ability to print 3D images using, ‘Dimensional Dry Ink Video’, and the only digital printer able to do this adding both visual and touch sensations to printed items.
